Demand driven by artificial intelligence has outpaced the semiconductor industry's ability to supply chips, memory in particular. Chipmakers, cloud providers and device makers are competing for the same limited output, and large buyers are weighing alternative suppliers, including Chinese ones.

Intel said on Monday it would offer $15 billion of common stock, a move Bloomberg links to demand driven by artificial intelligence. Bloomberg also reported that Microsoft plans to increase production of its AI chips, while Global Times said Apple is testing memory chips from the Chinese maker CXMT.
