The war with Iran drove the day. A US official said on Friday that Washington expects an Iran-Oman deal to reopen shipping through the Strait of Hormuz within days, while Adnoc reported 15 of its vessels hit there. Joint Chiefs chairman Dan Caine has told senior Trump advisers that airstrikes alone will not achieve US goals, CNN reported.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a mutual defence pact in Mecca on Friday. Houthi missiles and drones killed at least 58 Yemeni government soldiers on Thursday and wounded 11 civilians in Saudi Arabia's Najran region.
